Battlefront with core 2 quad q9950?

So my father, who doesn't play games, was blown away by the battlefront beta... We really want to play together but don't have cash for a whole new rig, but we do have an old one to work with. Before I buy a new motherboard/cpu combo, I just want to know what the chances are of running the new battlefront with a core 2 quad q9550 2.83ghz. If it is even capable of running the game itself, then bottlenecks would be the next issue... All I would need is a card that can run it on medium to high 1080p. So, what do you think? Can it handle it? Too early to say?

I searched and couldn't find enough data on my own. Thank you in advance.

Solution
q9550 will run the game fine, however the min requirement is a i3-6300t which is similar to an i3-4340. But if you overclock the q9950 to 3.2-3.4 it will close the gap.

GPU wise a 750ti will work great with your cpu. If this is the only game your dads going to be playing an not something on the horizon then avoid spending more. A GTX 950 is also very nice but why spend $40-50 more for just one game. Just make sure you get a card with at least 2gb or video ram

I have a Compaq 8000 Elite SFF with that CPU and 8GB along with a GeForce GT 640 and I'm able to play with medium settings at around 50 fps, but it's at 720p, not 1080p. I seem to be GPU limited so I'm sure that a more beefier card would be able to bring it over that gap just fine. CPU usage seems to over around high 80s for me if that means anything for ya.

AWESOME THANK YOU. I will pick your answer as the solution, but I also want to know... How much can a motherboard affect performance? I ask because the motherboard is a rather cheap foxconn micro-atx.

In reality not much, your talking maybe 5% variable, but also Foxconn doesn't really make a bad board. Best advice lookup the model number for the motherboard and look at some benchmarks from back in the day compared to other mobos of the time. This will help you find out if there is any variables.

I don't know about your "foxconn doesn't really make a bad board" statement. Now I'm not the most educated on this kind of thing, but I have had some stupid factory issues with this board, and that's putting aside the absolutely terrible bios on this thing. It was released way after SATA and I'm only using SATA but in the bios there are only options for IDE lol... weird. But I am hoping you're right, and we will see! :D Thanks a ton!

Whats your model number, and bios version? Is it an oem board from a gateway or dell by chance?

It's an aftermarket board. I'll give you the rest of the info later. Will the thread close when I pick a solution?
