Beats Studio- worth the money?

The Beats sound TERRIBLE. They are all bloated bass and nothing else. You want a good all around studio headphone with some decent bass then get the Audio Technica ATH-M50. Yes, they are $120 headphones, and yes they will sound far superior to that sh^t from Monster. If you want to maximize bass while still retaining decent sound quality through the spectrum, the Beyerdynamic DT770 or perferably the Ultrasone HFI-780 will still demolish the Beats at half the price. If you want the best of both worlds, then get the AKG K701(2) headphones, though you will need a good amp. (I recommend this as a low budget amp for them: http://ibasso.com/en/products/show.asp?ID=60)

And before you tell me that all these people say that the Beats sound amazing, remember that most people have never even heard any decent equipment in their lives.

Thanks for the opinions. I took some of your advice and now am looking at these Sennheisers:

But cjl said that some of these are kind of open with the sounds. Is that the case with this specific pair? Because to me, noise cancellation helps sound quality quite a bit. If so, then what's a pair with similar or better sound quality but that is also noise cancelling?

Thanks for the suggestions. Hmmm. Im willing to up the price if those Shures are worth it. Do you think they are?

The Shure are much more neutral and accurate, but both have decent clarity and both will do fine.

It comes down to what kind of bass your looking for. If you want fast, accurate, tight, and balanced bass then the Shures are for you. If you want exaggerated, powerful, and weighty bass then the Beyer's are for you.

Lol random but funny

Anyway i think i'll be going with the Beyers, as you said they have nice base that doesnt mess with sound quality. Thanks especially for AMW and cjl for your suggestions!

And one last thing: Do they have a 'burn in' time?

Well... now there is a question. Every single headphone recommended so far uses dynamic drivers which do have a burn-in period. How much it will effect the sound quality relies on a lot of factors. Most of the changes will happen in the first 50 hours of use, the rest are pretty debatable and may not even show up in most circumstances.

Heh...

Honestly, it doesn't feel bad, since I have no real desire to sell it. I love my 965 - it's not the fastest thing out there anymore, but it's still an amazing CPU, and it's running great. I didn't buy it for resale value :)
