Microsoft is making claims that XP is faster than 98, ME or 2000. This I find strange. I could see 2000 but since XP is NT based I can't see how it would operate faster than 98 or ME, especially for 3D application. In my experience all versions of NT 3.X, 4, and 5(2000) have been much slower than the DOS windows (95,98,SE, and ME). It made sense to me with all the added levels of security and memory management it had to be slower.
I would really like to see THG benchmark results comparing the different OS's. The benchmarks on this site are top notch and I think there would be others besides myself who would be very interested in seeing these results. I'm sure someone at THG has a release copy of XP as I have seen boxes of them in back rooms of retails stores waiting to be put on the shelves.
