BenQ XL2411T vs XL2420T whats the difference??

Hi guys,

I'm looking to order my new monitor asap so I've been looking around for a nice 120hz one and I keep being drawn to these 2. But for the life of me I can't work out why there is a £50/£60 price difference between them! Anyone got any ideas???

Also one slightly weird thing I've noticed is the XL2411T is advertised on a few sites, either selling or reviewing it, as being 144hz!! Which I thought was strange as I heard only ASUS had a 144hz monitor out at the moment. Weird no? :-\

It's ok I have found the answer =) Going to buy the XL2411T as it's 144hz and £70 cheaper.

Ok well where to start. Since my post on Toms I did a lot of digging to get the info I required, and as a result I decided to shamelessly abuse the returns laws we have in the UK. Not sure where you're from so, basically if something is purchased online we have a no questions money back guarantee within 14 days, but some sites also have T&C's that state if you notify them of returning the product you have an additional 14 days to dispatch it. It comes in very handy =D

Also before I start just an FYI in case you wasn't aware of the difference between the "T" and the "TX" models. The "TX" simply comes with Nvidia 3D glasses, the "T" does not, the monitors are exactly the same.

Anyway, so I first purchased the XL2411 (144hz), very very nice monitor and enjoyed using it a lot. I used it for a few weeks then I returned it, swapping it for the XL2420 (120hz). I found myself more impressed with the XL2420, the extra 24hz on the XL2411 wasn't noticeable but the upgrade from 60hz and playing at 60fps to 120+ was very noticeable for me. Some disagree, some says it's barely noticeable, but hey everyone is different, I personally found it to be a big improvement even in games that are restricted to 60fps, even though you're only seeing 60fps the refresh rate of the monitor still seemed to make thing smoother and I find I have less I strain and/or headaches after a good full eveningss gaming. It made gaming even more enjoyable for me.
So I decided to keep the XL2420 due to it suiting my eyes, the colour, vibrancy and such just looked better to me personally. (Be warned though, both monitors come shipped with god awful setups, pretty much everything from colour to brightness is on maximum, so the picture looks terrible out the box, but 5 minutes of tweaking it's easily adjusted to your liking.)

Since then actually I recently bought the XL2720 (27" version), although I kind of regret that now and I will almost certainly return it and keep my XL2420. 1080p seems to have a limit of 24" in my opinion and well a lot of other gamers agree as well. I sit quite close to my monitor and the 27" just doesn't look right the pixels are just that little bit bigger and become more noticeable. I think for 27" or above you need 1440p or 1600p to keep the overall sharpness and HD clarity. Also seeing ASUS ROG unveil their new 27" 1440p "TRUE" 120hz monitor with G-Sync at CES this week has wet my appetite.

One more thing to be aware of, BenQ released a Version 2.0 of the XL2420 last year. It's the same price as the version 1.0 but has a few things tweaked to improve it. So if you decide on the XL2420, be sure to find out from the retailer that it's the v2.0.

The thing is, i'm not yet sure whether buying a monitor that does not support gsync is a good idea,though your answer was really helpful.
I guess for a guy who plays FPS a lot like me,gsync might be worth it. Your opinion on that?

Hi again ignoraneIsBliss, not sure if you're still following this thread but I'll reply anyway. Sorry I never received an email notifying me you'd replied.

Well yes G-Sync is potentially a great new thing that I think All gamers at some point would benefit from. But at this moment in time, G-Sync new, very new, and therefore expensive and also very limited to number of monitors that have it preinstalled, FYI (I would not recommend the kit you can buy to install it yourself).

If it was me, I think G-Sync could and hopefully will be a great thing for everyone, but.... in 12 months or so. Personally I look at it like 4k resolution, wow amazing and I WANT ONE! But I'll happily wait to see what happens with support and prices in 6, 12, 18... months.

That's my 2 cents anyways.
