Does anyone here have a BenQ XL2730Z? If so, how do you feel about it? I am highly considering picking one up since they're on sale at the moment and it will be my first 1440p monitor and first experience with Freesync.

Also I have a Sapphire R9 280x, would that be enough to make this monitor worth it? Or would I need to upgrade my GPU?

So you're advocating spending at least $1,000, maybe $1500...

Thanks for all the help folks!

Do you guys have a preference in brand for the 390x? There's some good deals on them right now. Debating between MSI and ASUS.

If the next AMD line is as good/cheap as they say it is, then I'll just buy one next year when they come out. I don't want to spend a year with my current 280x and piece of shit Samsung 1080p monitor. I've got enough money to where I can buy a 390x(which is on sale right now) and the BenQ monitor and then next year pick up one of the new AMD cards.

In a lot of the reviews I've been reading about the r9 390x, people have been complaining about the card running super hot like upwards to 80-90 degrees, especially the MSI version.

That's the normal operating temperature. AMD and NVIDIA cards are basically neck in neck when it comes to operating temperature. The GTX 900 series operating temperature goes up to 94 C before throttling, +- 2 C.

The shutdown for the GTX 900 series is around 100 C, meaning the GPU driver is shutting down your whole PC if the temperature keeps rising post throttle. The R9 390x is about as power hungry as a 980 Ti, and we don't see people complaining about that, now do we?

It's just a bunch of BS floating around, yes the AMD card is pulling more power from the PSU, but the point I'm making is that any GPU will heat up to it's expected operating temperature. It really depends on your ambient temperature too.

To clarify, no damage is done to the card in any way, shape or form between operating temperature and throttling temperature. If there was no driver limitation in place for a GPU, then the user would damage the card, but that's not the case. People are spreading the same BS about CPU's as well...

I appreciate all your help Suzuki, and everyone else in this thread.
I have one final question before I stop bugging you guys!

My PSU is a 750w Corsair(I don't recall the model off the top of my head, I'm at work, it's not a modular PSU though). But it's pretty old(I think 4 years old) ... Should I get a new one? or will it be able to handle every thing just fine for the time being?

We need to know the model #, sorry. THat's because the quality of say the caps need to be high enough to handle high temperatures/load on the PSU. If it doesn't it might break, but no name are the only PSU's that take out other components with it when it dies. You should be alright for the time being. Just don't run Prime95 and Furmark at the same time for instance, until you upgrade.

Alright thanks, I'll try to grab the model # when I get home, I can't seem to find my invoice for it at all.

It seems that the MSI 390x has higher store ratings than the ASUS, but I never really trust those at all, since most people give negative reviews for the dumbest things. ASUS has never steered me wrong before with their products, so I'll probably side with them over the MSI.
