The RX 470 coming on the 29th.
But the RX 480 for $200 will be an even better price/performance proposition as it will have close to GTX 980 performance.

Quite the beat-down. But I think it is a bit off because it probably uses a 8gb 390x vs a 2gb gtx 960.

You didnlt understand me. By "these days" i meant until teh end of teh month when the RX series is coming adn will make them all obsolete. Not as in this decade :)[/quotemsg]

No i didnt say im getting it i think im waiting for the RX 470 since it is 150 and 4GB vram, but i also will have to wait to get that till like august

This is incorrect, see this article and several others, benchmarks and 3d firestrike results have been leaked which put it on par or better than the GTX 980 at a $200 price point.

What is incorrect? The 390x is on par with teh 980...
And we're talking about a 100% performance increase not precise benchmarks.

Pff.. and where would that be, if i may ask so i know not to move there :))

Bud the real benchmarks went live 6 hours ago for the 480 running Doom, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Counter-Strike: GO, Overwatch and Grand Theft Auto V. The 480 is around a Oced 970 just google them now

the 480 does way better then the 970 in gaming does more like a 970/980 mix.

Just look at the benchmarks if you want to know the performance. a stock 480 is not beating a 980. Oced yes at 1500mhz it does but your not getting 1500mhz out of the 200$ 480. you will have to pay 300$ for Beast mode 480 to get that.

The nda has not been lifted so they just delete my post if i try to link it here.

you dont need MHz to get a better performing card you do know that right??

1000's of OCers would disagree. If it didn't no one would OC their cards. Nice Late Aprils fools thou;-)

Yes the Mhz helps but it is not the only thing that makes a GPU good just look at all the other specs GPU's got and i seen a GPU with a 900 Mhz core clock beat a 1000+ core clock GPU in performance.

like CUDA cores larger memory interface are examples of what also makes a GPU perform better.. So yes a MHz core clock may help but if you dont have a decent amount of CUDA cores or a decent size Memory Interface you are kinda SOL

Yes but we are comparing the rx 480 stock speed of 1266mhz which in the benchmarks compares to a oced 970.
Then a 480 at 1500mhz will beat a 980. but this is not the base model card. it is the 300$ version with upped Vcore.
So I don't understand your point..

"The megahertz, abbreviated MHz, is a unit of alternating current (AC) or electromagnetic (EM) wave frequency equal to one million hertz (1,000,000 Hz). The megahertz is commonly used to express microprocessor clock speed."

They are the same chip so to increase performance you need to increase the frequency. Can someone explain to me what this popeyetyty is talking about. Thank you

Yes i know what i was saying is that the Clock and Memory speed is not the only factor that makes a GPu a GPU. Also the rx 480 is a 200 dollar 4GB or 240 Dollar 8GB so for the price you get one hell of a GPU.

I can agree with that.

Are you getting the RX 480 or do you have a better GPU??

I already have a 1070 with my 6700k.but i am building a duel xeon rig and it's ether going to have crossfire 480's in it or sli 970's.

Still trying to go over the 480 benchmarks in Doom, witcher, overwatch and CS go and compare them to 970 benchmarks but form what I've seen in Doom
the 980 has a good 25-30fps over the 480 with it beening stable at 105ish and highs in the low 130's. The 480 is stable around 75ish with highs in the 100fps range. The 970 i'm not so sure as it's not the same Location but it looks to be maybe a touch slower but it does not have the dips like the 480.
What do you think about the benchamrks? The videos are back up now at WCCFTECH

Drivers still need work. That's why the NDA is still on. Regardless, teh 480 is tremendous value for money.
