Hi, I have a hp pavilion slimline s5206uk pc, it has a 775 socket. I was wondering what the best cpu would be for it that I can buy use for cheap and one that will use as little power as possible since I have a 220watt psu?

Solution
from the HP website
"Socket type: 775
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:

Intel Core 2 Quad (Yorkfield) series
Core 2 Duo E8xxx (Wolfdale) series
Core 2 Duo E7xxx (Wolfdale) series
Intel Pentium E5xxx with Dual Core Technology (Wolfdale) series
Celeron Dual Core E1xx0 (Conroe) series
Celeron 4xx (Conroe) series"

the c2q chips require 95W
the e8xxx is a 65W chip

You need the TFX form factor PSU so that it will fit into your case. You have a "small form factor" case, so it doesn't have room for a standard ATX form factor PSU. The TFX form factor is designed for that: it uses the standard ATX power connectors (i.e. 24-pin/4-pin), just in a smaller package (& therefore lower wattage).

So yes, you need a TFX form factor PSU...unless you want to leave your side panel open & your PSU sitting exposed next to it (which I would strongly advise against doing).

another option is to relocate the innerds to a standard case and use a standard PSU.
if the motherboard has a mATX form factor it should be relatively easy to swap to a cheap standard case and a standard sized PSU.

the main issue with moving the motherboard will be the front panel connections. you may need to creatively engineer a way to separate the plug block that the SFF case uses.
