Best CPU monitoring program

What is the best CPU temperature monitoring program out there. My computer is running Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

If you have an Intel CPU, I'd highly recommend the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. The GUI is very well built, much more so than CoreTemp, etc. IMO.

I have tried that before. It installs all sorts of low-level-drivers deep into Windows. These drivers eat up performance, and I even had stability issues. When you uninstall the utility, the drivers remain active in the system. What is the use of a fancy GUI when the software is not stable? I can only advise against any such "tuning" software. The gain is never worth the hassle.

I did this many months ago, so I do not remember exactly how I proceeded, but I have vast knowledge about Windows and probably waded through registry entries and checked services and processes. Perhaps I even looked for driver files on the hard disk based on their date. Something along that line.

Bottom line is that you cannot do it unless you really know what you are doing in Windows. The complexity of this is probably why Intel refrained from writing a proper uninstallation routine for this. The danger of rendering the Windows installation unusable was too high from their standpoint, so they resorted to leave the drivers in place.

Again, I am writing all this based on my memories from half a year ago, so not everything needs to be accurate.

alsysio64.sys turns up in Rougekiller.

I had been using the program for years so I'm very disappointed. Hopefully they update CoreTemp one day.

WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T USE CORETEMP. I just tried it out at the recommendations off here and a couple other sites. It did come up running, and looked nice, however, within moment McAfee found 3 other things it installed that were trojans, and it changed my home pages, search pages, and added safesearch, all of which it never asked me to do. I hope no one ever makes the mistake of installing this. STAY AWAY. HWMonitor works well.

true, though it gives you the option to not install those things, just read the installation.

No where through the installation did it ask if it could change my homepages, search engines, install malware, or adware (safesearch), all of which it did, without one time even in the smallest of prints state it was going to do so.

In my experience, HWMonitor idle temps run high and it sometimes gives nonsensical readings of both temperature and fan speed (0 rpm? 98,654 rpm? Oh really...) For cpu/gpu temps I prefer Realtemp. It sits with a small footprint in the corner of a desktop and can be minimized to the system tray. It is configurable for accuracy and gui, and also has quick tests that can be run for speed, load temps, and cool-down temps. It displays cpu speed, BCLK, and multiplier in real time as well.

Yep experienced the same thing today. Messed up my firefox and intsalled alot of nonsense. DO NOT INSTALL CORETEMP!!!!

Stay away from Core Temp, I installed it two days ago and it hijacked all my browsers, installing stuff without giving me the option to opt-out during installation. The instructions to completely remove it are long and tedious and involve mucking about with the registry.

I installed Coretemp cause someone else told me about it....not good... Is there anything I should be deleting other than out of "Uninstall/Edit Program" Section?

......................I see this best cpu temp monitoring program has not been solved.even tho it said it is .....on this Thread please fix....plus IETU is only good if you use INTEL chips only for this is what they are made for....World overclockers use it all the time..as well as me...................................Best cpu Monitoring program .. is IETU..for intel it has no low end drivers...............AMD...OVER drive ...for AMD chips.............these for the best cpu monitoring programs.......................Don.t say something some ..if thier is no fact...I use IETU ...for my intel i7 4790k works good...best...........i had a AMD..used AMD over drive ...it worked best ...as well for me....these programs are made for the chips....intel is good to for suite 3..........the very best Monitoring temps is direct thermal cable to the cpu...or gpu good MOBO have this option....of a good case....pick one or the other ....if your monitoring overclocking...just keeping a eye on your cpu temps download ....IETU for intel....or AMD over drive for AMD chips....just dont use to tweek ..don.t use no gadget i mean core temp ect any smalll temp gadget thats why windows got rid of it.......................hope this helps.....
