Agree with Bigcyco1 & Stickg1, either 7970 or GTX670

Try not to go for sli / corssfire when getting new hardware but rather an ultra fast single card and sli/crossfire later when you need more horsepower.

Don't go for the GTX680, waste of money. GTX670 is almost just as fast, little bit of OC will get you at the same performance level as the GTX680

The 4GB means nothing as Kepler is limited by its memory bus width. The performance advantage between 2GB and 4GB models are so small that there is no justification for the increase in price.

2GB is more than enough for gamin at 1080p.for $550 solution,i would suggest a custom cooled 670 like MSi lightning or Asus DCII TOP version and then overclocking it as much as possible.this will save roughly 80-100 bucks.
another option is to get a custom cooled 680 and overclock the hell outta it.
choice is yours.

I like the 3gb vram but how well does it overclock?And how much better would the performance be? I have a preference for nvidia and asus and the asus is quieter. I'm only playing on 1920x1080 so no triple monitor setup.

See there a re a few problems though, dont get me wrong the GTX 670 is a hell of a card but the price has to go down just a little. AMD's price drop put the 7970 and 7950 all over Nvidia's current offerings. Even the 7950 with a simple overclock exceeds the 670, 680 and 7970. 600 series has autoboost which is nice but once you start to over clock the 7000 series it pulls away.

Well between the two some games favor one card over the other. For example, Battlefield 3 favor Nvidia cards so it will have higher frames than an AMD card.

Performance wise the GTX 670 is still stronger in most games, will be higher when overclocked

But when you have an overclocked 7970 or the 7970 GHz Edition, the 7970 beats the 670 (non overclocked).

For the price though, GTX 670 is the best card for the money.

When was the last time Anandtech updated that old comparison tool? oh I guess that comparo must have been gainst a stock clocked 7970, a lot of the time Nvidia's autoboost causes discrepancies in reviews

Thats halarious since everyone except you knows that a 7950 oc smokes a 670 oc. AMD price drop 7970 $429 7950 $349 throws you value per dollar chart in the garbage. For you even to say that a 670 is better than 7970 makes me wonder what happening to these forums.

How old are the links you putting up?

I have not seen the 7970 for $429 it is worth considering for that price but at $500 the card is a rip off the links you just copy link location and paste it and noway is a 7970 better than a 670 makes me wonder what happening to these forums as well lol.The correct answer is they are both essentially the same in performance overall. Depending on which games you intend to play, one will perform better than the other.

All the reference model 7970's are $429, usually $399 after rebate. Thats besides the point. They're both great cards and it depends on what titles you want to play. Also overclockability is a lottery. I have this HD7870 that overclocks like madd (1325/1525 compared to 1000/1200 stock it shipped as) and then other people I know can't get anywhere near that. If you get one of the great overclocking 7970's then it's lights out. If you get a great overclocking gtx670 it's awesome too, just not quite 7970 awesome.

why dont you start a thread with a poll on this topic, maybe then you will be a believer
