Thank you for the reply. However I may be wrong but I don't think the qx9650 is made for the LGA 775 pin layout on my mother board. If I'm wrong I apologize.

Just out of curiosity are you planning on upgrading to any one of these cpu's? They aren't worth it at all

If You Can Get One Cheap Enough Theres Nothing Wrong With One As An Interim Upgrade

[strike]First, these Core 2 Quad Extreme DO NOT go into LGA775. LGA771 is the right socket for them.[/strike] Second, they're so rare and the starting price was so high (Extreme series, what do you expect?) that the today's price will easily get you an i5+good Z68 mobo.

If you want to upgrade your current LGA775 setup, the most powerful CPU made for it is Intel Core 2 Quad Q9705. There're a few other notable models such as Q9650 and Q9700, but for all of them you have to watch out and first check if your motherboard actually supports them - some older LGA775 mobos do not.

You likely won't find one for any reasonable price though, and many LGA775 mobos don't support it anyways, so I wouldn't bother in most cases. LGA775 is getting old enough that it really is just worth getting a new motherboard at this point and transitioning to something like P67.

The demand is there exactly because of people looking to upgrade their LGA775 setups 😀 I'm looking for a cheap C2Q, myself, need one for friend's LGA775 PC (he's currently running a Pentium D). Don't mention the 1156, though, you don't upgrade to that stuff, you keep it if you already have it but that is all.

i am in the similar lane-- ina asus p5n73 am motherboard with dualcore2.5 GHZ -- i need the possible upgrade before lga 775 becomes an artistic product displayed in the museum -- i prefer a core2 duo with much cache i want the cpu to go well -- i have 4 gb am and gts 450 to pair with i play sims 3 with most expansions ; this e5200 suffers-- please help i need a 4/6 mb cached core2duo or some valuable core2 quad .
