Best Memory & SSD for a Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe?

What is best bang for the buck for memory on a Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe?

Below is Newegg comparison using Asus Quarlified Vendor list for this MB, 16GB.

Any opinion on G.Skil memory?

Also looking for recommendation on a 240GB or 256GB SSD internal drive.

Now which of you guys told me that 16GB RAM was too much memory, well do you still think it's too much for $60 ==> under $4 per GB...? 😉

Those Ripjaws have high heat spreaders so they most likely will not fit under an aftermarket CPU cooler. Go with low profile (LP) Corsair Vengeance.

Installed the Hyper 212 EVO cooler.
The G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) fit fine into my ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 MB and had no problem fitting in the Hyper 212 EVO cooler.
There could have been a problem if I went with the 4 x 4GB Ripjaws to take up all 4 slots.
But the way the MB is laid out, the closest RAM slot to the CPU is not used, so not a problem.

Good! But you may not be getting the best performance out of your RAM. Usually motherboards have 2 RAM slots a different color than the usual black of the other 2, which are the ones you should use if you are only going dual channel with 2 sticks. May be wrong here, and just be sure that if you get another cooler in the future to also get low profile RAM. The 212 EVO isn't all that big, but other more expensive ones are and will definitely conflict with the headspreaders on those Ripjaws.

nah. asus has the t-topology for memory instead of the usual. basically from what i know memory is now drawn in similar to a parallel circuit rather than a series circuit
