Best mobo for Barton 2500

Which would be the best mobo for XP 2500+ Barton? My choices are:

* Asus A7V8X
* Asus A7N8X
* MSI (?)

It is not clear for me the difference between KT400 and nForce2 chipsets or how the CPU would perform with them. Also, do I need a better cooler or the one that comes with the CPU is OK?

I plan to make digital video editing, do you suggest using the onboard IEEE1394 feature (A7V8X,A7N8X) or use the mobo FireWire-less versions (A7V8X-X,A7N8X-X) with an external IEEE1394 PCI card?

The A7N8X or the MSI with the nForce 2 would be your best choices here, although I am a bit more fond of the Abit NF7-S, than the others.

Im using an ASUS A7N8X delux mobo and got my barton 2500 running at 2.6ghz STABLE so far. Just make sure to grab the latest bios rev before using it.

You didnt list it.. but I am very fond of my Giga-byte 7N400 Pro. Fast.. lots of features.. and VERY stable with my Barton 2500+ running at 3000+ and higher. When running at this speed, I am seeing my temp at about 35-37 Degrees.

The nforce chipsets generally work faster, and are more stable than the via chipsets. As far as the hsf goes, Amd's new fans are very good and also quiet. Some people have had problems with the holdown clip. They tend to loose thier tensile strength. If that happens to you, you might want to get a new fan, or just replace the clip. I tend to buy a lot of Asus boards, because they are reliable for me, but you hear great things about all of the nforce boards. The Asus ultra seems a bit better than the non ultra.

I'll go with A7N8X. Epox has a lot of features and it's good value for the price (about $40 less here in Argentina) but has no S/ATA controller and I'll be adding a S/ATA HD in the future so that's why I chose Asus.

It's a good choice! I built systems based on A7N8X and Abit NF7... And I must admit taht ABIT is better... but the ASUS board is very good too!

He he!! Finally bought Abit NF7-S... it was $10 less than Asus and has more or less the same features. I also read it's more stable than Asus.
