best speakers for music

what are the very best speakers i can purchase for audigy 2 ZS for listening to music. never used for gaming, just tunes. dont care how LOUD they can play, but am looking for the best sound QUALITY for music. thanks in advance!!!!!

A nice music system using separate components would be best.
A used audiophile type store has great prices and gives you a one year trade in value on the equipment. You can buy something now and within a year trade up and get full value on the old stuff.
If just for music, you could get a decent used reciever and plug in the audio out on the sound card to the reciever and then get some decent stereo speakers for good quality.

Best quality, maybe some Legacy's, Wilson Grand Slams. Totems. Spendy speakers. I think the Wilsons sell for 100k USD. Legacy arent cheap but are great speakers for the price.

Very good speakers for price and quality are Paradigm and NHT(Now here This).

I assume you are looking for computer speakers. I like Cambridge Soundworks the best. They are made by a company who has been in the business of making good speakers for years. The person who started the company had been in the audio business for 60 years(?) he died a few years ago.

Good value for the price. They make speakers for creative also. The reason I like the Cambridge computer speakers is because they are good for music and gaming. Great midrange, treble and clean bass for computer type speakers.

Klipsch and Logitech arent bad either. I find Klipsch a little boomy in the bass, not clean. Treble is ok but midrange is muddy.

Loigtech, I like better then Klipsch but sometimes they sound a little a hissy to others. Some hear it some dont so it might be a manufactoring problem or peoples hearing. I have heard some that sounded fine. Treble and midrange is good. Bass is fairly clean, it doesnt sound over strained.

What it really gets down to is how it sounds to you. Best thing is take them home and exchange them if you dont like them.

If you are listening to MP3s, you might as well go the computer speaker route. If you are listening to better sound sources, the home stereo direction is higher quality.

For computer speakers, I say Cambridge. Just a note, when listening to these speaker systems, they are the higher end computer speakers, so I dont really know about the cheap ones. For music you will only need the 2.1 systems.

What is your price range? I personally wouldn't even bother with these overpriced PC speaker setups, and would go directly to this sweet <b><A HREF="http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&u=c&catoid=-10041&qp=0&oid=70772&m=0" target="_new">Onkyo 6.1 surround setup.</A></b> At $500 it's just a couple bills more than some other computer surround setups, but a much MUCH better sound experience.

Of course if your only interested in stereo sound, this is probably overkill, but if I were you I would get a nice receiver, and 2 really nice speakers. What could be bad from having a sweet home stereo connected to your computer?

I've owned a pair of the Sony Studio Monitor Series DJ Headphones, model MDR-V700DJ for several months now and have been very pleased. Having owned cheap headphones all my life I've really enjoyed this set. They sound great, feel great to wear and are comfortable for long periods. They offer crisp audio, excellent tonal range and pretty good bass response. For $150 I've been very happy. While I'd be intrigued to listen to a pair of headphones that cost $500 I don't think I'd ever spend that much on a pair. This pair for $150 is perfect for me, but I'll never step down to anything cheaper unless I am traveling. In that case I'd get a pair of noise canceling headphones.
