[citation][nom]notty22[/nom]BFG made many enthusiast specialty models, many water cooled ready cards and some with closed loop complete solutions.[/citation]
You mean they just stuck a different heatsink onto a stock card. Yeah, real hard to do. Especially when they don't even design and make the 'better' heatsinks themselves but buy it elsewhere.
Why has it taken them so long to drop video cards is the real question. They obviously don't have much aptitude for them, just longer warranties which they charge a lot for.

I would not say that Fermi has help put the profit margins in the toilet as much as NVidia's just being overpriced. NVidia does not provide good value for the money. It's really that simple. With the latest 200 series cards (except the GTS250 or better), the performance for the dollar is not good. I have used Nvidia cars (BFG,too) for many years. That will be changing soon..........ATI has the bang for the buck going right now.

Why couldn't it be Sapphire to go under? I severalty dislike them (but with much harsher words). I'm still waiting for a response from Sapphire from months ago (I shouldn't have to submit everything 2-5 times). Why did I have to go and trade my XFX 4870 for a Sapphire 5770?

You'll be missed BFG. Hopefully you can make a kickass power supply for my next build. :)

Yeps, it looks like it is partially Fermi's fault that BFG goes out of GPU market. Fermi cards are very power hungry and expensive, and there are no mainstream Fermi cards outthere. All the midrange NVidia cards are outdated and are behind ATI offerings.

Of course, part of the blame may lie on BFG since they are NVidia exclusive. However, NVidia failed to meet the market needs.

Sad to see BFG goes out of graphic card business.

Fermi will eventually work. Nvidia just needs to accept losses in the near future in order to place itself in a competitive position 3 to 5 years from now against Intel and AMD/ATI. BFG is just collateral.

[citation][nom]CyberAngel[/nom]Fermi simply runs way too hot for overclocking...it IS ALREADY overclocked[/citation]
this si my thoguhts exactly when ilooked at benches from various web sites , sure teh gf 400's are fastertahn single 5000's series cards , but only amrginally so on dx 11 games with tessellation in effect adn even then youar e stil elft wandering is teh cards worth it. i wonder how those benches would avhe looekd ahd nvidia decided to clock it lower to keep heat down >??? i bet their fiogurs would have been in line with ati's best

lol probably just temporary until nVidia releases its 2nd generation GF100 parts. Buying the GF100 and being forced to buy G200 chips is not good for business. As it is right now, you cannot make a profit selling nVidia GPUs with ATI winning every price segment.

Well I can't say this wasn't coming.

How many players are there today making nvidia cards? Palit, Zotac, EVGA, BFG, XFX, PNY, Asus.... That's just 7 off the top of my head, all selling the SAME product. BFG had the overclocks, but they were always one of the most expensive around here.

Sorry to say, the market doesnt need 15 companies that all sell the same product.

As I've been saying for the last few years extreme PC gaming is dying. What need is there for competing within the shrinking market of esoteric consumer graphics cards when game development focus is on consoles and tablets/iPad/iPhone devices? Drivers need constant updating and game code tweaking to prevent engine crashes. MS is still throwing money at the encumbered XBox which people are happy using despite a measly 500Mhz GPU whilst Playstation 3 sells with a marginally superior 550MHz GPU. Next gen games consoles will outright kill PC gaming. I expect to see more GPU card manufacturers drop out of this cut-throat market.

I had a ti4200 that died, I returned it and got a 6800 as a replacement. Nobody else does stuff like that. The fan started dying on the 6800 so they sent me a 6800GT as a replacement. It's like buying a top-notch card for the rest of your life. I could probably return that 6800GT for a 9800GT or something.

[citation][nom]leon2006[/nom]I have 2... One 8800GT and one GTX 280OC. Both are extremely reliable[/citation]

Agreed. I had the BFG 8800GT OC...ALTHOUGH it WAS NOT actually OC'd. I opened up GPU-Z on it and it read the standard core speed (700Mhz?) I think the OC was supposed to be 720, wasn't a big deal anyways. I actually volt modded that bad boy to play around with it. Took it like a champ although I did away with the volt mod.

Damn, majority of the graphics cards I've purchased was from BFG they had amazing tech support and their cards last long 😀. My friend only had to return one card from them a 9800gtx2 and they sent back a gtx 280 with no problems. And as the person above said they send nice swagger with their promotional stuff from their site 😀. Think I got a mini flash light keychain with a free game at the time far cry 2 I think. Anyways I for one will miss their graphics cards. 🙁

One has to wonder how much ATI/AMD is charging its partners for chips that most have to sell their card above MSRP and let BFG decided to close shop rather than selling unprofitable ATI/AMD cards.

What? BFG never made ATI cards, they are exclusive Nvidia vendors.
So it seems Fermi is the cause of their woes.

[citation][nom]bildo123[/nom]Agreed. I had the BFG 8800GT OC...ALTHOUGH it WAS NOT actually OC'd. I opened up GPU-Z on it and it read the standard core speed (700Mhz?) Standard core speed on the GT is/was 600mhz. The GTS was 650.

BFG and EVGA are the top two Nvidia sellers in support and quality, though I would look to BFG for overclocked versions as they seem a bit more stable. This is kinda of a big hit for the hardcore Nvidia fans that are extreme gamers.

no love lost here. they "stole" a card from me that i was trying to RMA. sent mine in, they sent a replacement that didn't work with my mobo. they told me to send that one back and they'd give me a different revision. i sent, they lost and claimed they never got it.
screw them, i went out the next day and dropped $400 on a 9800Pro

They appear to be done with the "without blinking" policy.
They sent me a GTX260 to replace a dead 8800 ultra.
Then they sent me a GTS 250 to SLI with it, to replace the second 8800 ultra. This didn't work, and they cheerfully paid to ship it back to them and ship me one that matched.

Initially I was quite happy with their policy, but it has been 7 months now, trying to get my second of two SLI'd cards replaced. They keep sending one that doesn't match the first they sent. Each time, there is a month of turnaround in the process.

I am pretty frustrated at this point.

BFG seems to have stopped the extended warranty support for europe. No reaction for 4 weeks for my died BFG 8800GTS OC.
This Suxx!
