This is a BFG tech update. (grin)

These folks suck the big one now, boards are rife with the brand new horror stories and snippity tech and CSR's. My latest experience: 1 rma, 6 phone calls over nearly 3 months, (over 80 days), then The BBB, then A lawyer (no charge to me), they have ten days to respond to both, and the next day after they get the papers from me (couple days ago) i get a ups transmittal number, the wonders of our legal system. I fully expect the card not to be functional. (9800 gx2)

BFG are a bunch of angry tools right now, i had one tech get very uppity on me and had to snap back, never ever did that before, they must be going through some deep sh!t to smack on customers like they do now.

They need to get straight. the entire time i received no emails on status, 40 minute wait times for all calls, one being 90 minutes and a hangup, and when pressed to make them keep me updated, nothing, even talked to the female head cheese in charge, she is all about being a liar. BFG tech support went from the best in the business to the worst in a matter of 4 months.

I can see my card coming back in pieces, lol.

You should check online stories about BFG. It appears they're dropping their power supply line as well. I think they're severely tightening on the CSR end because the entire company is about to go belly-up so the purse strings have officially snapped closed. I doubt you or anyone is likely to get any RMA's through here very soon. Yes, getting the run-around from a company that gives such warranties is wrong, but it's standard practice for a company that can't afford to stand behind their products anymore.

I've been a longtime supporter of bfgtech, but now I'm not sure. I purchased their 6800gtoc in 2004 for a gaming computer build. The card worked flawless up until 2008. I called up bfgtech and they told me to just send it in and they'll fix it. I did so and the card was sent back in functioning order. The following year, I had to send it back again for the same problem and I was returned with the same result. The card is now acting up again and, again, I phoned up bfgtech. The tech guy said "since it's older, it might take a little more time this time, but we'll fix it. I've emailed you your RMA number. Just follow the directions in the email." I proceeded to open the email and found it to say, "you need to provide us with a proof of purchase in order for us to give you an RMA number." This was new, I thought. I emailed them back saying that they've never had me send in any proof before, besides my registration of the card upon purchase, so why now? In their response, they said that I registered my card, but didn't give a copy of the receipt. I can't remember if I even needed to, but it has been over 6 years, so I figured I couldn't argue. I also figured I'll just dig up all my old receipts from the build. Since 2004 I've moved to 4 different residencies. I tried digging up all of my old boxes and receipts for everything...and I couldn't find the computer build receipts.
Today I tried calling tech support again and asking them why they need me to show a "receipt" now and he told me it's "their policy" and "there's nothing we can do for you".
After hearing that I wasn't happy. The dude even interrupted me before I was done with a sentence. I told him he needs to "not interrupt me" and "needs to work on his customer service skills". He told me he was "tech support", so he really didn't need to worry about customer service. But I reminded him that he's "still dealing with customers". Basically, I'm going to find that receipt if it kills me, but I can obviously see why they want out of the video card biz...they've bitten off more than they can chew.

RMA'd my card to BFG, only to have them return it to me telling me that they no longer support it (so much for lifetime warranty).

BFG is DONE.....

Two weeks ago i sent in a GTX285 for replacement,
Today i recieved the same old broked card with this letter in the box

BFG Technologies Inc. is winding down and liquidating its business, Unfortunatly our major supplier would not support our buisness, As a result we are returning your graphics card without being able to repair it. We apologize for the inconvenience

I now have 2 GTX285 cards one that works and the one i just bought to tide me over until the RMA was returned, then the plan was to SLI, well now my plan is to return the BFG card i just bought and replace it with one that has a warranty

If you just purchased a BFG card, return it, that life time warranty isnt worth didly now

I sent my BFG card in for RMA service and after several months all I got back was my broken video card and a piece of paper reading:

"BFG Technologies, Inc. is winding down and liquidating its business. Unfortunately our major supplier would not support our business. As a result we are returning your graphics card without being able to repair it. We apologize for the inconvenience."

I am quite upset because I chose BFG because of the lifetime warranty.

This Note Should be the Posted up where All can see, as BFG still advertises a Lifetime warranty on their site

I loved BFG products, but BSing "Joe Consumer" is over the top WRONG

hopefully the moderator here will sticky this up top for the world to see, i will even email him/her my note if needed

While I'm sad to see another company to go, this is not surprising whatsoever. The whole "we'll continue to sell power supplies" thing is a joke. The website is now gone and they got rid of JohnyGURU which told me that PSUs are done for them. All I can say is GOOD!

I bought a BFG ES800 which was very highly rated and worked great for almost a year. When I filed an RMA, 1 day short of a month later I recieved back a step down to just an 800LE power supply. Sure it had the same power rating and connectors but I went from a power supply capable of 800watts continuous to one that could do 800watts peak, was not 80+ certified and instead of once nice big fan to cool it had a pair of 80mm fans that were loud as can be.

Oh...and it was completely dead. I call, file another RMA and yet another month later recieve another stupid 800LE that worked but could only muster 11.85V on the +12V rails. The customer support was a joke and when I complained I got a step down from what I originally bought I was told "We no longer make the power supply you originally ordered, this is the replacement." The fact is the LE-800 was a topower unit even older than what I had purchased!

I've heard of many RMA issues with them and they had a reputation for selling factory OC'd cards that were clocked beyond the card's capabilities and would often crash. No wonder nvidia didn't send them any Fermis.

It's odd that they now have a GTX480 and 470 on their website but I wouldn't buy anything from them myself considering how they were with RMA's a few short weeks ago.

Interesting. I too world have to watch out after all the stories of bad service.

That might explain why they ignored my request on new 9800 GT two of them to upgrade as their web site confirmed to their 250 not sure about 460s. They just ignored me and now seeking out side consumer help. They should of still had options on card or did when we wrote them, regret buying them now only did because of promise of upgrade their a econ video card not the best in our opion like others hope my BFG power supply does not take a similar route. Wondered why they ignored us and redrew from BBB, real bummer.

I just bought a NEW card! I tried to register it, but the entire site is unavailable... so what now? No warranty?

BFG sucked... I'm still running their 8800GTs in SLI ... customer support has been terrible. If you didn't save your receipt you are screwed even if you registered at purchase.

I had to buy a replacement off eBay b/c they wouldn't replace my retail one with the same model or give me a reasonable option to upgrade both. That's how SLI works you know!

Could be cause ATI and AMD are one now this is not just a fair fight anymore this is for big bucks and as they say if you want to know if the boat is sinking look for diving rats
i kinda like my 260OC maxcore tho altho it's not one of the best anymore makes me nervous to think that i might have to go ATI again still have a bunch of dead ATI in my basement hopefully i'll have better luck in the future with ATI

Dang,I love my twin BFG's,they have have stable for >four years now and are only just starting to lag, right on time. They are oc'd and have never had a problem, neither has my 650w BFG tech psu. They will go into the main collection soon with my 3DFX,SBLive/eMu,and other all star vintage gear.I'm scheduled to rebuild in two years anyway.

i have a nvidia by bfg that i got early last year and the fan has decided to go out on it is there a way to replace it thru a new company that would have taken over the nvidia cards?

does anybody know what is the number for warranty support, my GP just failed and i have got still a year of warranty (5 in total).

Where are these jerks? I need my lifetime warranty honored, and these punks closed up shop on me. WTF

hi i have a bfg 5900 that i played in my old comper it had windows 97 i now got a new comper that has windows 7 i just wanted to know if this would work in my new comper with windows 7

Too bad these guys are gone, From what I've been reading they were one of the best companies during their best days for CS. I've only been interested in them recently cause Ive purchased a BFG ex 1000w power supply from ebay. Im not worried about quility or failure cause they seem to have produced quility stuff. It does cost money to supply such awesome Customer service and warranty. Money which ultimately the consumer did not what to pay for an opt for cheaper options. R.I.P BFG

everyone buying a console. can't blame them for video cards costing too much and "console only" games. GG
