I usually use google but once they announced they were going to start omitting things like shopping results for guns I dusted off bing and now use it again. Just not as much as google. Pretty much just like in the bing off I find most results a draw between google and bing. However the bing off can be easily; even subconsciously manipulated as it isn't too hard to tell which site most results are from. I could see a lot of google faithfuls screwing up the results.

Regarding the "Bing it on" name part, I'm reminded of the 2001 teen comedy spoof "Not Anoter Teen Movie" where one cheerleader captain says to the other "You better bah-ring it!" and the rival cheer captain counters with "Oh it's already been bar-roughted!"

The thing about this is that both sites have a different layout for the results they give so anyone who's used to either one can tell which is Bing and which is Google and that could probably skew the results since people are more likely to pick their favorite engine. Results given were discussed plenty so let me point something out. Bing's section for the #1 result looks cleaner and more pleasing than Google's. Bing's section is about 20-35% (depending on the type of site you searched) smaller than Google's and displays the information better while Google gives these unnecessary descriptions. Even the search bar at the bottom of this section looks better on Bing and for some results Google doesn't even give you this search bar that allows you to search within the website without going into the website itself. Case in point: http://imgur.com/a/Vqe6P . Yesterday I did the challenge and hadn't notice this difference and still Bing won with 4-1, I just chose the one engine that showed me the results/websites I wanted to see higher on the list.

5 google...shut out...

Most fun search: "should i vote republican or democrat?"

I got a top link stating that Jesus would not be a Democrat from bing.

Actually I use both of them but mostly Google, but I wanted to share something with you guys
Is it just me or anyone else mentioned it; I've changed my FF's default background color to Grey and when I search with Bing, the results' backcolor are Grey too, Yikes, I've even written it down on my feedbacks
but its months and Bing is still on its way :)
What Im gonna say is, Microsoft makes even compilers, have programming languages, thousands of programmers and they make simple things like.... more complicated...

I got a draw : 2 Google, 2 Bing and one draw. I'll admit the results of Bing are on par with Google. I just hate the name. I'm ashamed to say out loud "I'm gonna check that on Bing" and I'll probably never say "I'm gonna Bing that".

Bing 3, Google 2. Bing has a much cleaner layout than google, but i prefer using the search engine "Startpage HTTPS" for its no tracking policy.

in blind search bing is better there is no doubt about it
in other word goggle display butter result because they know how you are

0 Bing vs 5 Google! '2 to 1' must not know how to search or what's most relevant.

3 Google, 1 Bing, 1 Draw.

Two of my searches were related to finding code documentation and Google's results were definitely better (even though I'm searching c# issues). One was on a specific interpretation of quantum mechanics and Google was way better. One was for an issue I'm having with my car and Bing was better. The last was for info about a bike race I've entered (draw).

So it looks like Bing may be marginally better for more everyday kind of queries that most people will commonly make, but for technical users like me who are more likely to look up obscure coding / science related information Google is far better.

People using this test are probably just going to throw random stuff into the search which would skew towards the simple queries Bing seems to be good at whereas I specifically tried to remember the last 5 things I searched on Google yesterday. I wonder how my (and other users) 'Googling' ability skews towards Google. I'm sure that I've learned how to phrase my queries to best fit Google's search algorithm (especially for code related searches, it makes a huge difference).

Google 4/1

The only reason that Bing won the last one is because the site had disabled part of Google’s intelligent search function. Bing showed pictures and shopping sites, but all the Google results were only from the web search. In a real Google search, a sub-field for shopping is presented, at which point, if you are shopping, you could select Shopping and Google presents a search that shows you a selection of shoes. You can select a pair, or elect to search for shoes similar to a pair you see. Google pattern recognition software then refines the search by the characteristics of the pair you selected. You can continue to further refine the results until you have gone through, well, all shoes available for sale on the web.

This is how I found out that all the shoes I really want cost somewhere between the equivalent of my 30 inch computer monitor and all the electronics in my house.

Bing 3
Google 2

Except the 3 Bing results were pretty much a tie-breaker, Google had near perfect results as well.
The 2 ones Google won were obscure results that Bing didn't even come close to winning. This is the deal-breaker for me; if Bing can't find obscure stuff I can find easily with Google, then Google is the way to go.

Tested those 2 obscure searches on DuckDuckGo as well, and surprise surprise, nothing, zilch, nada. Google wins hands down.

Edit: Tried StartPage.com as well with the 2 obscure searches. It found one, but not the other. Google's still the best.

Bing is useless: try currency conversion or calculation queries such as "100 usd to eur" or "2+3" and you'll immediately see why Google is better.

I got an outright draw, Google 2, Bing 2, Draw 1
...
I guess the 2-1 ratio is based on a large sample size and people who are open minded, rather than pinhead forum trolls, I always considered myself agnostic on these things and i guess my results reflect that
