So Microsoft, with far more employees and cash than Google, can't compete by a long shot, and even loses billions of dollars just trying... What's even funnier is that Microsoft has given up on writing their own massively parallel/distributed/sharded database/storage/warehousing technology and are instead integrating Apache Hadoop, an open source product, into their failed cloud platform Azure. If they start using Hadoop to run Bing(on Linux servers, of course), they might finally start to make headway.

Furthermore, their highly unsecure and craptacular web server technology, IIS(the perfect complement to crappy ASP.NET), was just surpassed by Nginx in marketshare... Yes, if you're a Russian hacker, you can write your own small open source web server today, and tomorrow it will surpass IIS, even though you wrote it in your spare time, and Microsoft has spent billions of dollars on R&D.

[citation][nom]zak_mckraken[/nom]I got a draw : 2 Google, 2 Bing and one draw. I'll admit the results of Bing are on par with Google. I just hate the name. I'm ashamed to say out loud "I'm gonna check that on Bing" and I'll probably never say "I'm gonna Bing that".[/citation]Seriously? Afraid some Android gangstas are gonna roll you?

"Bing? BING? That's it, imma bust a cap in yo NAND!"

"First, the user enters a search topic either from a list of pre-defined words ..."

No wonder they got a 2:1 Bing winning,

Last I tried it I like Bing, it was pretty and had nice functionality but you'd just keep getting stuck on things that just didn't feel right until it was back to Google because it's not flashy but it works.

All my searches were around the HP 48GX calculators, their hardware, their software, and emulators (ex: Droid48).

[citation][nom]jaquith[/nom]Bingiton.com is a CHEAT, compare the results the center is an actual Google search => http://i1013.photobucket.com/album [...] -Cheat.jpg[/citation]
I don't think cheating is involved here, I think it's just a potential flaw in the testing. When you do a search manually, you are getting personalised results based on previous searches and your location. Doing it via proxy (which is essentially what the test is doing) negates the benefits and problems brought about by personalised searches, and this is obviously going to change the results.

At the same time, you could also say that the results are more representative of how good the search engine algorithm is at returning relevant results without having to rely on what you've already searched for. Still, the test is not completely "blind" because they would have had to equalise the formatting and remove extra tidbits (like Google's dates and number of posts) of information so that users don't just pick out the results that match what they are used to looking at, but rather the one which gives the best links.

BingitOn.com now redirects to Bing.com, the comparison site doesn't exist any more. I also noticed Bing.com now looks like a more colourful version of Google.com down to the gear icon on the top right of the screen, and links to other services at the top of the screen.

Nope... the domain is still functional... still does comparison tests.

I ran through the 5 search gauntlet...

Score:
Google = 5
Bing = 0

You know and I know that MS is looking at these scores... Bing Sucks.
