Personally, I say don't make another Mass Effect game. We know the Reapers were successful in their previous cullings and making a sequel would adversely affect game play if you could import your ME3 save game. What will ME4 play like if Shepard chose to destroy (or coexist with) the Reapers? Do you load the save game and then the credits just roll as there's no point since the timeless galactic threat was defeated. Shepard could also end up becoming the bad guy if he chose to control the Reapers. Choosing nothing and allowing the cullings to continue is the only viable story line for a new game.

Furthermore, if you couldn't import your save game to the new ME from ME3, I think there'd be a bigger fan outcry than the one for ME3s endings.

As a side note, I'm actually interested in seeing a prequel featuring the ancient race (30+ million years prior to Shepards time) that disabled a Reaper using a massive mass accelerator (from ME2).

How about a spin off? I rather have them not call it ME. I like a prequel about the first contact and rachni wars in the pov of 4 war races: human, salarian, krogan, turian. Of course preferably no Shepard (or Shepherd just to annoy some of you 😀 ).

Has to be a sequel, fixing what was an abomination of an ending in ME3. I won't buy a prequel, and I won't even buy the sequel if they don't fix that mess.

Prequel of when the humans find there first Mass Relay and enter the galactic government. This could prove to be a great point in which we could learn about past events and how humans were treated when we first entered the galactic government which could be a great staging ground for the next game which propels us to when the galactic government begins to collapse and a giant war starts and then we can choose who to align our selves and blah blah blah I'm sure you get the picture.

Best of both Prequel then a Sequel

After the disappointing ending of ME3 (the nonsense part, not the "boo hoo, I want rainbows and ponies on the ending" part) I can't care less what they do with the franchise.

Prequel or sequel isn't the question they need to be asking. This is like EA asking about the Dragon Age franchise and what to do with the 3rd - um.... look at the quality you put out on the previous version and try to "recapture" it?

ME3 wasn't bad, but what it did have (and both now EA-owned franchises suffered from) was that classic EA "what we think this game should be" appeal and/or the deadline finesse. It/they didn't feel polished and didn't meet the standard that Bioware itself set for the industry years ago.

i can see it both ways. if it ends up a prequel either shepard going through the skyilian blitz and torfan or have the story centered around anderson. if its a sequel it has to take place several hundred years later and maybe be centered on the reapers' resurrection or the arrival of the first reaper to harvest all over again

Sequel. Let there be hope - that either the Indoctrination Theory finally wins or the Refusal ending takes a new, winning turn, and Shepard's story could actually be heroic, rather than pathetic.

Only thing is that'll never happen. :/
