[citation][nom]xaios[/nom]Long story short, Joe Average who acts with both care, discretion and respect in all his dealings has nothing to fear from this change.[/citation]

Your "Joe Average" does not exist, and on the odd chance that he did.. he could hardly be considered "average", and even if he was... he wouldn't be a gamer. But, when this theoretical Joe Average does get scammed, or stalked, or loses his job... I will await your apology.

Do to intense bad press from countless news agencies and a fan uproar, they just reversed their decision on this matter. You will not have to show your real first and last name on the Blizzard/WoW forums.

I think privacy is the biggest issue really. I mean it's a game why should I had to disclose who I am; haven't you seen the news, kids killing their parents over Blizzard games? Also the people who balk at you for not wanting to disclose your identity because you must have something to hide need to f*** off. That is the type of person behind every stolen liberty FYI.

Thank goodness we do not have to deal with this. It's just a game, let us play with what ever names we wish (half the fun) and don't forget who pays the bills! Oh and my last post was all sorts of messed up in the spelling (erhem edit button toms?)

Glad Blizzard changed their mind and listened to the players responses. I still dislike that they planned to implement this to begin with and I'm wondering if they will keep their stance and not stick Real ID on their future forums when Cata comes out.

I dont know why you guys voted my post down when I simply pointed out that the actual article said that you can CHOOSE to use your real name. You DONT HAVE to.

[citation][nom]xaios[/nom]Your post suggests two things. First of all, you appear to be using a 'slippery slope' argument, which is one of the most documented logical fallacies of all time. Second, you assume that all of this precludes the possibility of simply bad things happening to good people coming to pass.[/citation]

Point 1: Absolutely. Now show me your documented proof of the slippery slope being a fallacy. Begin with Atomic energy, and Taxes please.

Point 2: Absolutely not. But why give the bad guys another mechanism to do bad things?
