ok so i was at work ( geek squad ) and while i was putting on the faceplate for the Sony Blue Ray drive, it freaking snapped in half, i was freaking out and i told my manager and he said to just get another one off the shelf and replace it

so all in all

I broke a 800$ DVD drive, and i kinda enjoyed it

( i think the Sony Blue Ray drive is a waste to buy now )

😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

.......*Fcuk Sony*.....

uber_g breaking face plates left and right not giving a fcuk.

Sony is making crap now anyways. Ever since their batteries started blowing up they've been cutting corners to save their butts.

I wish I had access to a Blu-Ray so that I could flex my mad geek skills and snap it into bits 😉.

Ahh I still love Sony. Even though the battery in my laptop might blow up any second (still needs to be replaced), every peice of Sony gear I've ever owned has been great. And when I invest in a PC laptop, I'm pretty sure where I'll be going (what with Lenovo cutting standards apparently).

As for Blue-Ray, that's another monster altogether.

I guess the thing I've learned from this thread is to steer clear of uber_g and his sledgehammer computer fixing style.

I h8 sony and besides, they are on the decline. But the dru-820a is a really nice Multi-Drive. I use two of them and they work fantastic!

well ps2 is "suppose" to play ps1 games but thats half true. You have to tape them and some other wierd shit so they work....that why my next console is a wii for sure....unless if get some finalcial "help" ill get the ps3...

I don't know about that, EVERY PS1 game I have ever tried to play on my PS2 (and there have been quite a few), has worked with no problem at all.

FYI, for the person that asked, PS3 SHOULD be abble to play most "official" PS1 and 2 games.

LOL! Sign of a true geek. Don't toss the faceplate. You can use the pieces for blinders on the sides of your eye glasses. :)

I'm loving my blu-ray drive. I bought an Intel G965 board and a Pegusus HDMI Add2 card (You really have to pressure Wintec to sell you one because they are not available in retail channels yet). I have it connected to my 37" 768p LCD TV. Looks fabulous. I am having only one problem and that is over/underscan of the graphics driver. Intel does not allow custom resolutions. So, I'm stuck with presets.

Other than that, spending $800 on the drive was no problem for me. I know the technology Sony puts out and I trusted that the movies would look awesome, and they did. Beside, I have piece of mind with my 3 year extended warranty.

Best buy has nothing to do with the quality of products. A sony there is the same as a sony on New Egg.

Very True, their terrible customer service and the general lack of knowledge of their sales people is the reason why they stink.
