Hello all,

Hopefully someone can give me some advice. When I present PowerPoint presentations and videos, I have a projector connected directly to my laptop via HDMI. I am looking to purchase a Bluetooth capable soundbar to mount in the classroom approximately 2 meters away. Whilst in this configuration, can I purchase a Bluetooth dongle to plug into my non-bluetooth projector (USB port exists) to push the sound from the projector to the soundbar? The projector does play sound, but a very low quality and volume.

Many thanks in advance!

Jeff

^This. Background FYI.

Your computer (laptop) may have more that one device able to output sound. For example, it can send sound out on the HDMI port by routing the mobo audio chip output through particular lines of the HDMI port. Plus it can send sound to some 3.5 mm sockets for speakers or earphones. Plus you may be able to have it send sound out to a Bluetooth device. No matter now many devices your system has, Windows can use only ONE of these at a time. Right now it is set to send sound out on the HDMI cable.

In the search window at bottom left type Sound Settings to open a configuration window. The first block is for the Default Sound Output system, and it should show you something like HDMI port output. Look for another "device" that play sounds via Bluetooth and choose that, then back out. You can come back here any time and change this setting.

Pair your new sound bar with the laptop's Bluetooth system to get sound. On the projector you may want to turn its volume control all the way down so it does not make extraneous noises.
