I'm trying to reinstall windows on an old lenovo V570 laptop that I have laying around collecting dust. My bios currently has a password on it, something that I didn't set, I'm guessing it's due to a ransom ware virus that was previously on the laptop. I can still boot into safe mode with networking/ cmd and sometimes boot normally. Is there anyway to force a boot from cd from out of the bios? My next step is going to be removing the mobo battery in an attempt to reset bios password, just wondering if there were any other options I'm missing before I take apart my laptop.

Your bios is locked because it is proprietary software. Most likely set so the user can not access the bio at all. Done by Lenovo.

One of the F keys will give you the boot option. I am pretty sure it is F8.
