Booting without logging on?

How do I boot without logging on? TweakUI offers a way, but it works once
then doesn't 'stick' until a password is specified. That works for awhile
then there is an error on bootup and eventually the screen locks up, and one
has to do a reinstall of Windows XP. There is another method that ivolves
launching "conntrol userpasswords2". But that works exactly once and then
becomes deactivated,

Both methods work correctly all the time. Your problem is caused by
something else. For example, if you are on a domain, the network policies in
effect will override anything you try to change.

I/m not on a domain. Looks like I've got to try something else. What else
can I try?
