[SOLVED] Bought an old Barracuda 1T for a cheap price, should I use it?

I recently bought a Barracude 1T HDD from my friend for 30$. It comes with the plastic seal and it's new. The only thing makes it cheap is because my friend said it's a very old model and it's been manufactured in 2012.
I started to worry because I don't konw if it would damage my pc in any way or it would die very fast because of compatibility issues, any ideas? Should I get a new model from Amazon for twice the price but the same functionality?🙄

It's not going to damage your PC just because it was manufactured that long ago.
If it is compatible with your PC it will work just fine.

Yeah, this wasn't a particularly good price. A new $30-$40 hard drive, you can actually get replaced if it fails. And who even knows if this was knocked around while sitting in his house unopened for seven years.
