[SOLVED] Bought an old Barracuda 1T for a cheap price, should I use it?

I recently bought a Barracude 1T HDD from my friend for 30$. It comes with the plastic seal and it's new. The only thing makes it cheap is because my friend said it's a very old model and it's been manufactured in 2012.
I started to worry because I don't konw if it would damage my pc in any way or it would die very fast because of compatibility issues, any ideas? Should I get a new model from Amazon for twice the price but the same functionality?

It's not going to damage your PC just because it was manufactured that long ago.
If it is compatible with your PC it will work just fine.

Yeah, this wasn't a particularly good price. A new $30-$40 hard drive, you can actually get replaced if it fails. And who even knows if this was knocked around while sitting in his house unopened for seven years.
