Hey i need some serious help because my brain is going insane so

i bought a new cpu the ryzen 7 5800x3d from a ryzen 5 5600x
my motherboard is the msi mortar b550m ive updated the bios as of 2023
and basically sometimes it will start and work fine and sometimes the cpu light will stay red and sometimes it will get into windows freeze and just show so many different blue screen errors ive lost count like something with kernel and system threads etc
every time i resit my gpu it works but only with hdmi the display port cables it just blue screens or cpu light will stay red and not work

do i need a new motherboard or power supply?

If reseating the video card resolves the issue then it sounds like the problem is there or the PCIe slot on the motherboard. As long as the video card is clicking into place it's installed correctly.

It would still be worth resetting the motherboard to defaults via CMOS if you haven't already.

Also make sure you've got the most up to date BIOS which for the B550M Mortar (just guessing this is your model though there are others) is 7C94v1H.

Some more details of your system would be helpful, but even if your PSU wasn't sufficient you'd be able to get into windows okay.

resetting the cmos seems to work but when i try and install the chipset drivers it happens again
