Broken flash drive

Hello,my daughter's college roommate sat on her flash drive and broke it. My daughter's final project is on the flash drive and due in 9 days. HELP

I can't think of any way recover the files from a broken drive, they are not repairable. What about the computer that was worked on before transfering to the flash drive, can you recover files from it? or did she do a no no and save directly to the flash drive leaving her with no other copy.
You should always have more then one copy of important files on seperate media, unfortunatly some learn the hard way.
