I have recently been getting BSODs... I have run every scan I know, no issues.

sfc/ scannnow, bitdefender, chkdsk, etc. It started on 3/8 and now happens randomly while working.

This is the data from the crash:

r/pchelp - BSOD -

The only thing i can see is based on that bug string, are these two devices causing a conflict:

r/pchelp - BSOD -

I have tried updating all drivers (Mobo, etc), but to no avail. Any suggestions? thx

Where, exactly, did you try updating the drivers from? The motherboard manufacturer's support page for your board? Windows update? Some third party site or "driver updater" software?

Unless there is a problem with the board or other connected hardware, the fact that your SM Bus controller is remarked says that most likely there is a lack of driver or a problem with the installed driver.

What is your currently installed motherboard BIOS version? If it is not the latest stable version I would update your BIOS to the latest stable version.

Are you running the latest Windows 10 build version and have installed all updates including any "Optional" updates in Windows update, or are you running an older build version of Windows 10 and do not allow the system to update regularly?

What is your ACTUAL motherboard model, because "Z490M" is not a valid ASUS motherboard model. I'm guessing it's the Z490M-Plus but knowing the exact model is pretty much a necessity to move forward at all.

So, to start with you have a completely different motherboard listed in your sig. You should change that because anytime you are seeking help, if you haven't specifically listed the hardware in question in the thread that is where people are going to look to try and see what hardware you are working with. Your sig says Z490M, which of course is not a complete model at all, and your msinfo32 data shows that the board is actually a Z490-G Gaming Wi-Fi. This is an important distinction.

Of potentially very high importance is the fact that you are years behind on BIOS updates. You do not need to do each of them, but it would be a VERY good idea to begin by updating to at least version 2601 which is the newest version that does not also require you to update the Intel ME firmware as well. Updating the Intel ME firmware and then updating to version 2801 would be even better, but for simplicity sake I believe updating to 2601 on the following page would be a good place to start.

This version: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...601.zip?model=ROG STRIX Z490-G GAMING (WI-FI)

If you are unfamiliar with updating the BIOS you should familiarize yourself with the process before updating AND I would recommend using the BIOS flashback feature on your board which you can learn how to use here:

After you update the BIOS it would be a very good idea to do a hard reset to ensure that all new settings "take" and no settings remain "stuck" from the previous configuration. After you've successfully completed all this I would recommend next making sure all drivers are up to date AND correct by downloading and installing the drivers I've listed below. I recommend installing them ALL. Do not skip one because you don't "feel" like it is relevant. ALL drivers are relevant because in some cases there might be problems with other drivers or hardware or the OS, which is WHY they have updated drivers in the first place.

BIOS Hard Reset procedure

Power off the unit, switch the PSU off and unplug the PSU cord from either the wall or the power supply.

Remove the motherboard CMOS battery for about three to five minutes. In some cases it may be necessary to remove the graphics card to access the CMOS battery.

During that five minutes while the CMOS battery is out of the motherboard, press the power button on the case, continuously, for 15-30 seconds, in order to deplete any residual charge that might be present in the CMOS circuit. After the five minutes is up, reinstall the CMOS battery making sure to insert it with the correct side up just as it came out.

If you had to remove the graphics card you can now reinstall it, but remember to reconnect your power cables if there were any attached to it as well as your display cable.

Now, plug the power supply cable back in, switch the PSU back on and power up the system. It should display the POST screen and the options to enter CMOS/BIOS setup. Enter the bios setup program and reconfigure the boot settings for either the Windows boot manager or for legacy systems, the drive your OS is installed on if necessary.

Save settings and exit. If the system will POST and boot then you can move forward from there including going back into the bios and configuring any other custom settings you may need to configure such as Memory XMP, A-XMP or D.O.C.P profile settings, custom fan profile settings or other specific settings you may have previously had configured that were wiped out by resetting the CMOS.

In some cases it may be necessary when you go into the BIOS after a reset, to load the Optimal default or Default values and then save settings, to actually get the hardware tables to reset in the boot manager.

It is probably also worth mentioning that for anything that might require an attempt to DO a hard reset in the first place, IF the problem is related to a lack of video signal, it is a GOOD IDEA to try a different type of display as many systems will not work properly for some reason with displayport configurations. It is worth trying HDMI if you are having no display or lack of visual ability to enter the BIOS, or no signal messages.

Trying a different monitor as well, if possible, is also a good idea if there is a lack of display. It happens.
