So basically, since the beginning of August I have been having issues with my PC blue screening after I did a nvidia update (which yes I have tried reverting and even uninstalling and reinstalling NVIDIA) and for a while reverting seemed to work. But soon after I started to constantly keep getting BSOD while playing Final Fantasy 14 (idk about other games having the same effect as I have only been playing ff14 atm) and my browser open on another window. I have tried tweeking with a number of things but for the life of me I am having no luck fixing this. I even reverted BIOS changes I did for overclocking my pc (which surprising fixed an audio issue I had been having). I am not sure what info would exactly be need so the event viewer info within the BSOD/reset is further below with whatever popped up

Anyway heres my PC

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i5 6600 @ 3.30GHz 29 °C
Skylake 14nm Technology
RAM
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4x8GB)
Motherboard

And according to my Event viewer this stuff popped up when it happened last

Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

  1. Open Windows File Explore
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
  3. Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop
  4. Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows
  5. Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder
  6. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)
  7. Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

huh thats weird, I use a razer orbweaver, and I had been using what the new Synapse calls "synapse 2.0" for my "legacy device" for its software. I will try uninstalling the newer synapse and maybe that will help? idk? It was the newer thing I had installed in the past month or so.

anyway my older synapse is 2.21.24.34
the newer synapse is 3.6.0831.082317

If razer have a downside its Synapse. I knew they replaced it. Do you have to use the new version? Were you having the error with the old?

Logitech replaced their software a year or so ago and support for their older hardware wasn't as complete as it had been. So this could just be them not supporting it as well.

You could ask on the razer forums I guess.

3 years ago it didn't work with Synapse 3 but i assume that has changed

I had been using the old software till recently, though technically the new one says it needs to use the old for my item, when I went to uninstall 3.0(?) it uninstalled the old 2.0 too, so I am just gonna try using the 2.0 synapse and see. I originally only installed 3.0 cause I thought it was an updated version for my orbweaver, though since it still uses the 2.0 for that I don't really need it then.

I guess if you using old hardware, it pays to be careful when you update software as eventually the makers stop worrying about supporting something from 2013 when they have newer things that do the same things. Its a way to make people upgrade their gear even if it still works

Logitech did it on my G910, the rgb wasn't the same after the upgrade. I had been using same colors on kb for years and now I couldn't.
Steelseries engine has updated before and not recognized my old mouse.

So it happens, seems mostly to happen to peripherals in my experience.

Maybe they make their hardware too good and this only way to make users change?

2 causes crashes
3 just reinstalls 2 and causes crashes.

I wonder, do you have another PC to see if it also causes crashes on that as well, with new drivers?

Google search suggests someone posted about it in this thread but I am not going to scroll through all the reports about other devices to find it, and I don't think it offers a solutions anyway. Its a bug report thread after all - reddit link

yeah, its unfortunately looking like it is synapse cause the BSOD, have had in uninstalled all day with no issues while playing since my last crash post. Guess I will just be ignoring razer stuff for now on though orbweaver was the last thing of theirs I was using. I am gonna test it another day or so before saying its solved (maybe test another brands version of orbweaver)

It appears Razer bought the rights to make those off Belkin and the Belkin models were way better than the razer ones

Razer just painted theirs green and covered it in RGB, called it gaming, doubled price, put worse switches in and called it a day

Synapse is still a problem with newer models too
I watched 2 reviews of the Pro and both say same, buttons get stuck but its Synapse, not the gamepad.

there isn't much choice besides razer. The cheaper ones are worse which is an achievement. Razer make reasonably good hardware and then shoot themselves in the foot with Synapse. Even the Orbweaver Chroma uses Synapse 2. That is odd. The cheaper Tantarus Pro uses the new software. Main difference is the key switches. Razer don't need to makee them any better as no one is competing. When an old Logitech and the original Belkin are still shown as choices, the market it pretty dead. Razer can make them as bad as they like, get some "professional" gamer to promote them and kids will buy them.

I have used Razer before, I had a mouse/keyboard combo. Mouse was too light for me and W key on keyboard eventually stopped working. Synapse annoyed me back then too. I generally avoid them now because of Synapse.
