Budget Intel Based Gaming PC

Hi there,

I am planning a budget intel CPU based gaming build and was wondering which parts to go for. I have never built before and don't really know where to start! My budget is £400 - £430 and I would like it to be based around the i5-2400 and Radeon HD 6870/6850. The other parts I'm not really sure about, could you please give some ideas?

I don't think the optimum solution for your budget is Intel based.

I suggest you get something like this http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/phenom-ii-overclock-graphics-card,review-32280.html but with an i3 or i5 CPU and compatible motherboard. As you cannot overclock any i3s or the i5 2400 you should be OK with the stock cooler.

Looks good except the power supply which I recommend you avoid even the coolmaster site does not give any info on the power on the 12V rails and also states more than 70% efficiency at typical loads which is poor. Its another £25 but I recommend you get a Corsair 500W.

intel: More than 1000dlls for a good gaming machine.

Psu: Antec or corsair PERIOD, antec green power Is a good Psu.
