Budget pc for a church

Hi there,

I need a budget pc for my church. I need to keep the budget at £330 excluding the os but this is only a target. the main use of this pc will primarily be powerpoint, recording with audacity and playing videos - all on a projector so must have extended desktop. as none of these tasks are very demanding your input on the best pc i can build for that budget would be helpful. I want this to be upgradable in the future but to last a couple years till that is required. i also have no preference between intel and amd but i gather amd are much cheaper.

amd may be cheaper per core ect but its not always better for the money. Your mobo needs a bios upgrade to use the cpu. I'd get an intel i3 108.68 (inc vat?), msi mobo 57.30 (with vat). There is no need for the gpu (another point of failure). and ram for 27.70 (all inc vat).

thanks for the input, why would you chose the i3 dual core over the amd with 6 cores? do you know how i would connect two monitors to just the mobo? and do you think that case too basic?

I missed the dual monitor part my bad. As for the intel vs amd. I'm an intel guy but typically i3s are better for stuff with a single thread. Your mobo would need to change because it needs a bios update for the amd cpu.

Also amd's 6 cores haven't been well received and have done quite poorly against even there early cpu's I agree with jack on the i3 suggestion that or a cheap i5 which is a quad core solution.

so i will definitely go intel. i3 is all we can afford, do i need a good gpu for the dual monitor function? any suggestions?

for basic things like documents videos excel, power point presentations you'd be fine. The gpu you have picked out at the top will do just fine with more then 1 screen.

it would do just fine the only downside is that its not HDCP compliant which means you wouldn't be able to play blu rays but regular dvd's and normal hd content through youtube or something would show.
