So yea, I'm building a new computer and trying to get it as quiet as possible, I looked around and finally decided on every part that fit within by budget, <$1500. Ideally to get a silent machine I should get a liquid cooling system, but I don't know if it's worth the extra $200...

CPU
■Intel Quad Q8300 2.5Ghz
■Intel Duo E8400 3.0Ghz
■(I'm not sure if the quad core is worth it judging by the benchmarks for 2008.)

CPU Fan
■Zalman (CNPS9700LED)

Power Supply
■Enermax MODU82+ 525W Power Supply (EMD525AWT)

Case
■Antec P182

GPU
■NVIDIA GeForce 250 GTS 1GB
■2x Gigabyte NVIDIA Fanless 9600GT 1GB GDDR3 PCI-E (GV-NX96T1GHP)
■2x NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT 1GB
■(Ideally the fanless 9600GT would make no noice, but I'm worried about the cooling)

GPU Cooling
■Zalman Z-Machine GV1000
■(Only for the 250 or the 2x 9600)

HD
■Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA (WD10EADS)

HD Cooling
■Zalman Hard Drive Cooler (ZM-2HC2)

RAM
■Kingston 4GB 1333 DDR3 (KVR1333D3N9K2/4G)
■Kingston 6GB 1333 DDR3 (KVR1333D3N9K3/6G)
■(Is the 6GB worth it?)

Motherboard
■Intel LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX (BOXDP45SG)
■EVGA LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI (132-CK-NF79-TR)
■(The Intel is alot cheaper but I really think the nForce and SLi go together, but is it worth it?)

DVD
■Plextor 22x SATA (PX-850SA)

Thank you.

$1500 and no i7 in sight. wow. also ddr3 isn't worth it with 775. and that psu is insufficient for a water cooled system and SLI.

Try;

i7 920
ASUS P6T deluxe v2
3x2gb 1333mhz ddr3
CoolIt A.L.C.
4770 fanless (you'll have to wait on this one but it will be just as powerful as the two 9600gt's or 4670's)
Coolermaster 690
4x Scythe 120mm fans(to replace ones which come with it and lower noise while giving in more air)
Zalman Heatpipe HDD cooler
WDC black 1TB
Silverstone 750w PSU

that comes out to about $1270 before rebate, oh and I couldn't find the CoolIt ALC cooler on newegg so you'd have to look elsewhere for it but it'll be about $100

I wasn't interested in getting liquid cooling so what king of PSU would I need for SLi 600W?

Is the i7 really worth it, its $350... kinda steep.

The Video card I wan't to be NVIDIA...

just saying, that card will use less power than the two, be just as powerful and run cooler.

also I put a compact water cooler in there since it got good reviews and only costs $100 while keeping noise down and it won't use a tonne of power. Also you want as good a PSU as you can get with an i7 build so thats why I put a high-end 750w in.

You can't do SLI on the P45 motherboard. Also, it makes little sense to SLI two weak cards. Try a good single card on a P45 board and a soundproofed case like P182 or NZXT Whisper. That way you can spend only $50 or so on 2x2GB DDR2-800.

I'm still unsure of which processor to get... but I looked at your suggestion Hello and it looks like the system with an i7 core would cost me just over $1500
(Canadian Dollar) for the parts, and that's without shipping and taxes...

Another question though, what votage would my PSU need to be for a Duo Core or Quad core + Coolit ALC + GeForce 250 + GPU fans? is 625W enough?
