So my friend is buying a new computer. It will be for gaming, internet surfing and university stuff.
He won't overclock so no need for intel k processors and z motherboards. He prefers asus and gigabyte motherboards due to bad experience with MSI. So here's what I built:

Any suggestions?
I hope you can use this site, or just ask me to do a list on Pcpartpicker.
He already has windows 10

PCpartpicker would be easier since this site isn't even in english natively. Also, According to this build, you have an MSI mobo and a 6700k, did you put in the wrong list? What's your general budget?

Edit: Sorry, just read the title, okay, hmm, I would recommend a i7 6700 for the CPU, maybe later when I have more time, I'll build a PC Part Picker list.

Edit 2: I would also recommend an RX 480 8GB over the 1060. It does better with DirectX12 and Vulkan and recent driver optimizations are really making it a great card.

A few things to consider is using 2*8gb ram sticks instead of 4*4gb. Makes future upgrades a little easier. For 'University stuff' he could save a lot of money and go with the I5 instead of i7, use an AMD 480 card instead of the Geforce 1060, seems Nvidia is pricy in Poland. Since he is not overclocking you can use the stock fan, no need to buy one.

Yeah I agree with you, but I searched for 2x8 ram but it's a bit pricey. Told him the same about the i5 being cheaper, but he hasn't decided yet whether the i7 is actually worth the 120€ more, and he also prefers nvidia over amd unfortunately. He doesn't want a stock fan, because silence also plays a big role in his preferences.
We live in Slovenia actually, but I understand that the two languages are pretty similar, so no hard feelings 😀
Cheers

Noticed that I didn't paste the right link, just use the PCpartpicker one, it will be easier for you and above all it has the right components 😉

The PSU on 450 watts is a little small, if any upgrades are added down the road, or a beefier GPU. I would recommend 500 watts, if you can find one that doesn't cost a whole lot more.

I will post the updated PCpartpicker soon since we debated a little bit more.

Now you are going with the stock cpu cooler? Your previous PCPartpicker build had a compatibility issue with the aftermarket cooler you were considering and the Zalman case.

I think that is a pretty solid build. Depending on how many videos, mp3 files, ripped DVD's etc. you friend will have on the computer, a 2 TB HDD is not that much more costly

Yeah he changed his mind and went with the stock cooler :)
We'll see, it's not that difficult to buy another 1 down the road, if he realizes that he needs more storage space.
Thanks for the response 😀
