I am building my computer on PCPARTPICKER, I live in Australia so things get pricy over here. I originally wanted a gaming PC for no more then $900 that could play fallout 4, GTA 5 and other recent games, but found myself at a $1400 computer. What should I get rid off or downgrade, keep in mind I want to be able to play fallout 4, GTA and other recent games.

I was thinking of switching the Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor for the Intel Core i3-4160 3.6GHz Dual-Core Processor since its like $200+ dollars cheaper, what do you think?

Most games (especially future titles) will appreciate having a quad-core CPU like the i5, and some games may struggle with the dual-core i3. Long story short, even though the i3 is a good little processor for light gaming, the i5 would be the far better pick out of the two and is definitely worth the extra money if you have it. If in the future you decide to buy a more powerful graphics card the i3 would likely start to be a bottleneck, and so the i5 4460 would push more frames out of the GPU than the i3, as well as running background tasks, photo and video editing suites and other intensive programs much faster. You could get a cheaper case as for around 1000 bucks it's not worth spending a lot on what is essentially a shell. Tell us what resolution and framerates you're aiming for and I'll put something together on Pc Case Gear as a guide :)

A quick look in your specs though, and I can see some corners you can cut...
1. Get a B85 board, cheaper than the H97 with only a few features cut
2. Ditch the K-CPU and get an i5-4460
3. Ditch the cpu cooler
4. Why not ditch the wifi card as well, and just go LAN?
5. You can also get the Corsair 100R instead for a few more bucks savings

Agree with Jack, don't go i3.

For comparison, I will tell you my build that I run everything on ultra and 1080p. My mobo and CPU are 6 years old. I have an i5 750 (first gen i5) and a gigabyte p55-usl or something. I cheaped out on mobo. But chuck a gtx 970 in there, with 8gb RAM, and I have no troubles playing anything. So you don't need the best i5 you can get, but anything newish you get will be tonnes better than mine, so guaranteed you'll be fine.

EDIT: Maybe not helpful since you're already over budget, but I would seriously try and get an SSD instead of a HD. 256gb SSD instead of 1TB HD for me any day. Also, you could maybe get cheaper RAM. Others may disagree but I have bog standard 1333 RAM. It's absolutely fine.

With the 'K' series of Intel processors, the multiplier is unlocked so that you can push them to faster clock speeds and make them faster, with an H97 board, you won't be able to overclock very well/ at all and so the non-K processors will save you a lot of money. As a novice, overclocking could damage your CPU if something goes wrong, so it's best just to leave it. The i5 4460, like Erik said, is a wonderful gaming chip and will give you plenty of power for what you need to do. The R9 280 is a relatively quick little card for the money, but the company that pc part picker says you can buy it from is CPL Online, and they are absolutely trash. PC Case Gear are a really great company based in Melbourne and they have an ASUS 380 for a decent price at the moment and will give you really solid framerates at decent settings: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/32704.
Apart from that, all of Erik's suggestions are true, especially the CPU cooler as the processor comes with a stock fan and heatsink that will be just fine.

The best solution for you is to spend 400$ on a ps4 and a 60$ on a dualshock 4 .that way you get a 8GB GDDR5 worth of graphic and 8 core CPU + 500GB HDD and 802.11g/b/n that can play 4K videos and run the games at 1080p full hd. then spend the rest on games like GTA V .but if your a fan of FPS that way your only solution is to get a computer

Don't you dare get a PS4 instead of a pc, I have faith in you Josh. An SSD is a drive that has no moving parts and is much, much faster than a hard drive. SSD's are able to locate files much faster and you will see a massive difference in the booting of windows and also in loading screens of games among other things. Hard drives give you more storage space for less money but are quite sluggish in terms of using them as a main drive. You can put windows on your SSD and then when you have the money, add a hard drive for more storage. Motherboards usually come with 2 cables to connect them up so you should't have any worries. Panzeros is right, 1333 mhz ram is all you need.

Seems like a good enough motherboard, the part where it says 'Micro ATX' basically means that it is a little bit smaller than a standard ATX board, you will lose a second and third PCIe Express slot (for another graphics card if you decide to get one) But it seems to get nice reviews.

haha, I promise I wont get a ps4. I changed a few things and got it down to about $200 cheaper, but now it says "Some Intel B85 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs", is this something to worry about?

Agreed. You could always download HWMonitor. It's a funky little program that shows you temps of all your hardware. Keep an eye on your CPU temps and if needed you can always get an after market cooler later. For an idea, you'd be looking at CPU temps of anything under 100 degrees C.
Now, 100 is far too high really, and if it is running at that, then there is a problem, usually the thermal paste needs reapplying (it sits on the CPU, and the cooler sits on top of that). Anything over 100 and your about to have a bad time. Temps around 70-80 are still high but you're in no danger from damage. Stock cooler may get you temps of 50-60 maybe, after market cooler will get you temps of 30-50 maybe.
Lots of variants, but that's just to give you an idea. I would expect stock cooler to keep it at 50ish for a few years, which is fine.

The 4690k is quite a lot faster, but is also quite a lot more than you need and is a waste of money with a B85 motherboard. The 'K' Means that it can be overclocked, but B85 motherboards don't/won't overclock CPUs and so the 4690k wouldn't make any difference to a 4690 in real world tests. The 4460 is all you need to get good fps in fallout 4 and upcoming titles Josh 😀

Jack's list is great. You'd be happy with that system. Only thing I would tweak, and only if you really need to get the price down more, is change that SSD.
That samsung EVO SSD is one of the best you can get. Samsung definitely lead the way with SSDs at the moment.
However, I would argue that you don't need that one. The main upgrade is changing from hard drive (with moving, mechanical parts) to SSD (no moving parts). I've read benchmarks showing that real world perfomance isn't affected THAT much by read/write speeds of different drives. For you, who has not used one before, you would be happily surprised at how fast even the cheapest SSD is.
I use a Crucial MX100 256gb (now replaced by BX series) Got it for £55 last year on black friday. Got my GF a Sandisk plus 120GB this year for £27 (again on black friday). She's super happy with how fast it is.

So if you're happy with the price, by all means go with the EVO, otherwise don't be afraid to choose something cheaper. Just get 250GB minimum to ensure space for games.

The build I put together has a faster Graphics card and an SSD, a hard drive might be a better option for you because of the price difference though. Throw in an 380 if you can, but if not, the build you put together is good to go.

Maybe ill use the graphics card that you used in your build and put it into mine. thanks for the build jack, allowed me to make some big improvements to my build. you guys are awesome
