I just build my first ever computer: i5 2500k
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
8GB Ram
Win7 64 Bit
etc.
Everything went fine, I booted up and installed windows but the computer is not detecting internet at all. I have a wireless adapter that goes through a wall so you can use wired, not detected. I connected a cable from my laptop to the pc but still not connected.
In the drivers list there are no, !, ?, X and I have tried troubleshooting and it just says 'The local area connection does not have a valid IP'
I haven't tried anything to do with drivers but since there are no signs on the devices list I guess that isn't the issue?
Thank you
Edit: just tried booting in safe mode with networking but still nothing. I downloaded drivers on my laptop and put them across and still nothing.

Did you install the motherboard, LAN and wireless card drivers?

If you type ipconfig into the command prompt window what information do you get? -- i.e. copy it, transfer to another computer and post it here.
