Is it worth buying right now the 5600x which is currently at 255 euro or should i wait for the summer or save a bit more for the i5-12600k which is around 290 but the motherboards are expensive.

Solution
Worth is something only YOU can determine.
5600X was the go to processor a year ago.
Today, you can find a slightly stronger I3-12400 processor fora similar price.

The stronger single thread performance makes it a better gamer,
Particularly for cpu centric games like sims, strategy and mmo.
And, for fast action games, the graphics card is more important.

A B660 MATX motherboard is usually not expensive.

Hey there,

Well without doubt the 12600k is the faster chip. In gaming about 5% on average, about 20% faster single threaded, and about 35% in multi. Strong chip. Ideally you'd want a Z board for a 'K' processor. But as @geofelt mentioned, the 'I5 12400' is a strong chip that would go well with a B660 which can still OC the mem, just not a 'K' chip.

With all of that said in terms of gaming, the 5% average increase in FPS translates to a few fps, typically between 5-10 sometimes more, sometimes less. Will you notice that when both chips will easily pump out high 150+ fps/hz on most modern games/monitors with the right GPU? Prob not. If the price is right the 5600x is also a great option. (in terms of overall build cost)
