Camera recommendations?

Hi,

I want to put a camera on a water tower. Has a spectacular view, Olympic
Peninsula, Hurricane ridge.
Also, I want to put one at my home. I have huge bandwidth at both
locations, 40Mbps up/down.

Wish List:

1. Weather proof
2. Ethernet
3. Power over Ethernet
4. Pan / Tilt. Optical zoom would be nice
5. High resolution, at least 800 x 600
6. Motion detection

So far, I'm leaning towards the Toshiba 1k-WB11a.
I've heard that users are unhappy with it's firmware / software.
Anyone know if the Toshiba really has 1280 x 960 or is this
interpolated?

Yuk on the Toshiba. Up high you are really going to want an optical
zoom, probably 21X. Describe your mounting area and conditions. I
assume you'll be on a side of the tower with only 180deg max of view?
You are probably looking for a decent used outdoor dome PTZ camera,
probably with some heater or even cooling. Panasonic has a nice system
that allows you to do all controls over a single muxed coax. Theyre on
ebay often. If you need some software generated to control any dome
device on a pc, let me know. You also need to worry about RF
interference up there. My guess is that you'll be right next to an
antenna somewhere and twisted pair might not be a good way to go,
especially ethernet.

I will be on top of the water tank with 360 degrees. I have 40Mbps
Ethernet there via an Airaya PTP wireless. The source is 100Mbps
fiber .8 miles away. Definately has to be an Ethernet camera.
I don't know how RF will affect this. ?
