ASUS brand laptop fell to the floor, hitting hard.
Laptop seems to be working but later found a small silver-colored metal piece on the floor nearby. It's about an inch / 2.5 cm x 1/3 inch / 0.5 cm long. There is a stripe across it, near the end of the piece which is blue. Half-way across is an indent / groove in the metal.
Can't figure out how to post a photo here yet.
Apologies for general cluelessness.
Any thoughts as to what the item is and what, if anything, should be done?
Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. The laptop case did not break open at all.
It's possible it spread open enough on impact that the heavy piece of metal fell out, but didn't stay open. You can try just taking the back off using this guide and see if it fits. Or chalk it up to a mystery if everything still works fine and you don't want to risk it.

There's two rectangle spots near the bottom of this picture that look the right size. Could just be balance weight or for a magnet holding the lid closed or something.
