Question Can i convert optic fiber to Ethernet

My ISP gave me a gigabit modem which sucks.So i wanted to get a media converter to switch from optic fiber to Ethernet.So media converter and then router no modem is that possible?

No.
A "modem" is the 'media converter'.

You're thinking of the router portion. You can almost certainly use a different router behind what the ISP gave you.

so i cant remove my modem and instead put a media converter like this one
TP-LINK MC220L 1000M

i have a tp link 3b78 and a modem which i have no clue what brand it is but i have turned off the wifi signal on my modem and i only have wifi signal on the tp link but the tp link can barly reach like 10 meter or 32 feet.
