Question can i have 16 gb stick and 1 8gb stick

i have an 8gb and a 4gb stick now can i take out the 4 and put in a 16? i have M32CD_A_F_K20CD_K31CD (LGA1151) motherboard and this is the ram im looking at since it matches the 8gb stick in my pc now SK Hynix 16GB DDR4 2Rx8 PC4-2133P-UB0 HMA82GU6MFR8N-TF Desktop RAM Memory

A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
The internal workings are designed for the capacity of the kit.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards, can be very sensitive to this.
This is more difficult when more sticks are involved.

Intel is fairly tolerant of disparate ram. I might guess that your odds of success are perhaps 85%.

If it all plays nice, the matching 8gb in each channel will operate in dual channel mode.
The odd 8gb will operate in single channel mode.
