Hey tech community, I got a question that I can't really find the answer for. I have some 2 x 8GB TridentZ DDR4-3200 CL16-16-16-32 sticks that are in my Z170 ASUS Hero MB, I want to upgrade it with 2 more 8GB DIMMS but I can't find the same G.Skill TridentZ DDR4-3200 CL16-16-16-32 DIMMS for sale anywhere.

I can get 3200mhz with CL16-18-18-38 for a reasonable price, the main question is can I mix these two sets? I'm guessing the MB would go with the slower CL by default?

Any help would be great, I can get the CL16-18-18-38 for a deal today. Same type G.Skill TridentZ 3200mhz just it's CL16-18-18-38.

Thanks,

you can try. even with the same model, sometime they work sometime they don't
Thanks, worst case I just return it to Amazon, they take everything back. Worth the try, not sure why I can't find the CL16-16-16-36 sets out there in the wild right now or even used. Very odd...I mean I might not need it for what I'm doing. We'll see. Thanks for the reply.
