Can i overclock this mortherboards

Hi, I am making this thread to get info on if i can or not overclock this boards.


I have a MS-7242 K9AGM Series http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/motherboards_d/MSI/K9AGM%2B%2528MS-7242%2529/

Processor AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+, 2094 Mhz With 4gb of ram 800Mhz I am also thinking about upgradeing it to Athlon X2 Brisbane 6000+ 200 FSB 3.10Ghz 1M L2 L3 N/A Stepping G2 89 Wattage here is the list of cpu that can support my MB http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K9AGM.html#/?div=CPUSupport


Anyways my main point is can i overclok this mortherboard to get higher speed say about 3.2ghz any or is my mb not able to do that.

Looking through your manual (briefly) found here http://www.msi.com/service/download/manual-4524.html I saw nothing that indicated to me that overclocking could be done through BIOS, so I shall venture here that you are unable to overclock on your motherboard

Ok thank you very much for your time and support. I guess i would have to just buy the Athlon X2 Brisbane 6000+ 200 FSB 3.10Ghz 1M L2 L3 N/A Stepping G2 89 Wattage here is the list of cpu that can handle my MB at the max speed of 3.11ghz

That seems to be the best CPU available for your mobo but check to ensure you have the G2 BIOS which is later than the F2 BIOS required for your CPU (It's possible -not likely - you already have the G2 version). If not, you will need to flash (update) your BIOS to G2 before installing the new CPU. MSI provides direction on flashing the BIOS. I'm still looking up benchmarks to see if you will get much (if any) performance gain out of the trade, I'm not so sure of that.
