Can I put SODIMM in a Desktop?

Hello, I am building a new desktop PC and am putting standard 2x4 memory in. BUT, I accidentally also purchased 1 chip of 8gb DDR3 1333 SODIMM. It looks like this is for a laptop. I was wondering If I my motherboard could take this as well. (I haven't opened the motherboard yet.) They want 6$ to return it which isn't really worth it.

I have a GIGABYTE|GA-970A-UD3 MOBO. Is this possible?
