OEM computers are pretty limited in what can be upgraded and laptops are even more closed off than desktops. According to Acer's website these are the only CPU's that will work.

Intel Celeron mobile processor 550 (1 MB L2 cache, 1.73/1.86/2 GHz, 533 MHz FSB).

IMO none of them are worth it. Your laptop seems kind of old I would just get a new one.

Is your laptop running XP or Vista?

then it isn't that old only a year or two. I would still get a new laptop but if you want to try and make it faster you can add more RAM and maybe get a bigger HDD or an SSD.

An Intel Core2Duo T9500 is best processor you can fit, that'll give you a significant boost from the crappy single core Celeron.

3GB RAM is the max amount but sometimes 4GB will work but it's finicky.
