Can I upgrade my Pentium 4 single core processor in my Dell Dimension

My Dell is 8 years old and I need to upgrade from single core Pentium 4 to à dual core processor. Can I; how much and is it worth it for mixing music?

Most Pentium 4 processors were released on the Socket 478 platform. If you have a Socket 478 motherboard then you cannot upgrade any further. Some pentium 4 processors, along with the Pentium D processors, were released on the LGA 775 platform. If you have a Socket 775 motherboard then you do have a few upgrade options but the age of your computer will make upgrades expensive and hard to find.
