I've come upon a very cheap new 2GB pair of Corsair XMS2 6400 (4-4-4-12). I already have 2GB's of Corsair XMS2 8500 (5-5-5-15) running dual channel in my system. My question is, can I put the XMS2 6400 in my system with the XMS2 8500 and just adjust the speed in bios to be the same?

I understand that I should have Vista for the 4GB to be recognized correctly and that the pairs should be kept in the same colored slots/channels.

Here are the exact specs and model of the RAM pairs:

Yes, you should be fine. Just to clarify, you'll need 64-bit Vista (not 32-bit Vista), to be able to use all the RAM.

Thanks for the confirmation. I didn't know that about Vista. Looks like I'll only be able to use 3.5GB.

I've got 2 8800 GTX SLI'ed so I need to go with the 32-bit version for the time being.
