Best is to use one single kit. Second best is to use two identical RAM modules. In theory you could use any two or more sticks of RAM but until you try there's no guarantees it would work. It's just try and see what happens proposition, might or might not work !!

In theory it should work.
In practice, subtle differences in timing , voltage, etc can lead to inconsistent performance, BSOD, etc.

Even memory from the same manufacturer bought at a different time can result in that behavior, based on lot / batch tolerances.

Memory is best bought in matched kits at time of purchase
