Question Can i use my old Corsair CX-650M PCIe cable (type 3) on my Corsair CX-750F that came with type 4 PCIe cable ?

Hey i was wondering if i could use my old corsair cx650m (2017) pcie cable on my new corsair cx-750f

The cx650m 2017 is listed as having a type 3 pcie connector while the cx750f uses a type 4 pcie connector

They both also have a different missing hole on the connector

This is why Corsair goes out of their way to tell you their cable gens.

The missing hole is just a ground. The pinout of both cables is the same. Type 4 has a cap for ripple filtering, that's it.

For over a decade Corsair use the same pinout for PCI-e cables on modular PSUs.

Ask this way: why not? Both cables are just lying there, out of the case. It's not even a matter of laziness. Why don't you want to use the newer cable that came with the new PSU?

Hey thanks for the quick response, i needed an extra pcie cable for my strix 3080 ti since my cx750f only came with 2 pcie cables. Im currently using a different psu but thinking of using the cx750f since my current psu only have 2 pcie connector ports unlike the corsair (3 ports)
