I want to try and build my own PC. Can I use my old 2008 HP Pavillion case? My system crashed...the motherboard is bad according to the repair tech. He said not to sink another penny into it. I am interested in learning how to build my own system and was hoping I could use the case. Any ideas out there?

LOL @ you guys...Yes it is dear husband. Sorry about that...thought you would know...I guess it's a girl thing. :) I have another one I like to use for myself...CD...Clueless Dame...or it can also mean Clueless Dude. I used that one before texting even existed!

Sad to say no arrival of Windows 7. Newegg said it actually did not ship until the 7th. 🙁 It will probably arrive tomorrow, but I'll be gone...flying to Paris...I have the best job right? I'll be back Sunday.

HI! I'm back and I have my new win 7 OEM. Now I just need to install it. I am pretty sure that I need to change my bios menu so I thought I would ask for a little advice before preceding.

I also did a little reading and I now realize my PSU (this stands for "Passenger Service Unit" on the airplane BTW...:) ) is pretty lame at only 250 W. Sigh...one more thing to upgrade.

True, it is a little weak, bust should be fine until you add a stand-alone video card. So, you need to boot from the DVD to begin the install. Most mobos allow you to press a function key (during the BIOS post screen) to select the boot device, usually F11 or F12 (but it does vary). You can also set your BIOS boot order to select the optical drive as well (just make sure to save the settings after you make the change). Either way works.
