I have a generic cooler(Dex 9100d) and it has 4-pins, so the bios set it as PWM but it was making a lot of noise so i started trying things, when i choose Voltage as the Control Mode, the noise reduces significantly, i don't think it is caused by RPM because i've tested it with Manual RPM inputs, my motherboard is Gigabyte B550M Gaming.

My question is: There is a problem in using a 4-pin cooler in Voltage mode? Can i do any harm in my system by using it that way? I just build my bc and don't want anything to go wrong(I'm using this cooler because i'm on budget and i already had it from a previous pc, but i do plan to buy a better one as soon as possible)

Solution
there's no danger in using DC vs PWM mode, you just don't get proper control of the fan and\or the pump.

what type is the cooler? just a heatsink and fan?

if the fan is 4-pin but not recognized correctly by the BIOS;
try setting a custom fan curve profile in the Gigabyte motherboard control software from within Windows.
or just get a better fan.

Yes, just a heatsink and a fan, i switched back to the coolerbox(i have a ryzen 5 5600x), the temperature gain with these generic cooler wasn't worth the noise, it was getting almost the same temperature on HWInfo.
Thank you for your answer, i will continue with the coolerbox until i can afford a new one.
